We Bought a Zoo (2011)

Zoo pals make it fun.
Damn you, Cameron Crowe! I was ready to dismiss this as cheesy kiddie fare, but you decided to make another great holiday family film. Though it managed to fall into many of the parent trying to save their family genre, I spent most of this movie with a grin on my face, or lump in my throat. Crowe managed to use the cliches to his advantage, by playing them against the pitfalls of starting a failed business back up from ruins. Watching Matt Damon's Benjamin Mee struggle to learn how to be a newly single dad, while simultaneously trying to care for animals is awe inspiring.
